The International Baccalaureate have adapted well to their new style of English curriculum offered by the English B course. The focus on critical thinking and developing international mindedness has been an interesting shift from their previous curriculum. The English B course includes interesting topics for the students to pick apart such as “Cultural Identity” or “Standards of Beauty”.
As part of this course, they have learned how to engage with the language through the analysis of texts such as articles, instructions, blogs and reports. They have also been engaging well with their current novel, which is an excellent novel about the Biafran war which took place in Nigeria in the late sixties.
Overall, our first International Baccalaureate students have flexed their English muscles demonstrating their thoughtfulness and creativity. At the end of this exciting trimester, I am looking forward to seeing what they come up with in the new year!
